2026-05-04: Robert Dunst successfully defends his PhD thesis

We are happy to share that Robert Dunst, Early Career Professional at SERC, has successfully defended his PhD thesis titled 'Hydrothermal alteration in the Bergslagen district, Sweden: Tracing metal mobility during hydrothermal alteration in a Paleoproterozoic metamorphic terrane'!

Robert's findings shows that large-scale hydrothermal alteration redistributed metals across the Bergslagen ore province (central Sweden), and that these processes played a major role in ore formation. His work highlights the importance of rock composition, fluid chemistry, and basin architecture in controlling metal mobilization.

Robert's thesis is published open-access and is available for download here. His PhD work was supervised by SERC Hub 2 leader Iain Pitcairn (Stockholm University), and co-supervised by Nils Jansson (Luleå University of Technology).

Congratulations Dr. Dunst!
