SERC represented at SGA 2025

In August 2025, Robert Dunst represented the Smart Exploration Research Centre (SERC) at the 18th Biennial Meeting of the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits (SGA), hosted at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. The conference provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange and networking, bringing together researchers and professionals working on mineral deposit studies worldwide.
SERC was represented by three members: PhD candidate Robert Dunst, who presented a talk entitled “Deciphering Hydrothermal Alteration in Metamorphic Terranes: A Case Study from the Riddarhyttan Area in Central Sweden”, Professor Iain Pitcairn, and Pablo Petri, who presented a poster entitled “Lithium Ore Mineralogy of LCT‑Pegmatite Drill Cores Characterised by Simultaneous X‑ray CT‑XRF Scanning”.
Following the conference, Robert Dunst participated in the field excursion to Yellowstone National Park, a world-class natural laboratory for studying active hydrothermal systems. The excursion was expertly guided by Jeff Hedenquist and Stuart Simmons. Participants had the unique opportunity to observe geysers, hot springs, and hydrothermal wells, and to relate these features to hydrothermal circulation and epithermal mineralisation processes.
